Tarot Cards and Playing Cards: The layout of the
cards.
When I do readings, the tarot cards are some of the favourites to
be used. I have used them for a number of years, but the playing cards
I’ve used since I was young have long been something I use each and
every time. The tarot cards and playing cards correspond in many ways.
The only difference between the two are the Arcana cards. These vary
from pack to pack but are consistently twenty two cards.
I have found that when asking a question that is of great importance,
a lot of Arcana cards come up. They are in fact the energy of the
universe coming into the reading and giving a form of guidance to
reader for the querrant to inform them of what is about to happen or
how to go about the task at hand. When this happens, I usually take,
if there are five or more Arcana cards in a reading that I do; all the
Arcana cards and have the person I’m reading for hold them and do the
usual handling of the cards. Then, lay them out in a short and
succinct reading. Usually five or seven cards. This will usually tell
me if the querrant’s question has been answered or how to go ahead
with the task.
Sometimes I’ve had people coming to me asking how to do Tarot
readings. It really is an individual thing. Some people like to have
their hand held, or have total independence. But essentially, tarot
cards are like playing cards and they tell a story. It is up to the
psychic to tell that story. But, most people can do that if they know
what the cards mean and where the meanings go, and how the cards are
laid out. It then really isn’t a psychic reading but a story of how
well a person can read someone else and their reactions.
A psychic reads between the lines and gives the story between the
lines as well as what they can see in the cards. The cards such as the
cups, are for emotions. Anything that flows is about emotions, these
correspond with the playing cards – hearts; the pentacles are about
money, and correspond with diamonds; the swords are about thoughts and
correspond with spades; the wands are about doing things, they
correspond with the clubs.
When I do readings, I look for the spiritual cards, the emotional
cards, the thought cards and the doing or physical cards, and in that
order so that when it comes time to do the reading, I have logical
steps that help me organize the reading if it at all appears
confusing. If an Acarna card appears with anyone of the above sets of
cards mentioned, then I look further to see what the Arcana is
enhancing whether it be spiritual, emotions, thoughts or the physical.
When I have that sorted out, I set out with the reading and use
intuition, psychic awareness, channelling and other methods to draw
out what I see in the individual. On rare occasions, I don’t get
anything, but most of the time I get a lot of information. Sometimes a
reading for me can take up to two hours. But, as always, there is
unpredictability and no one can say for sure that a person will do
what is laid out in the reading. People always have a choice and will
do what is best for them at the time. A psychics job, if you will, is
to predict what can happen if certain choices are made.
Ultimately a tarot reading need not be taken so seriously and with
conviction. It can be used as a tool or guide to help people discover
what their choices are and to act upon them. But, there are several
types of readings. When using the same set of cards and put into
different sets of readings, they can mean different things. But the
same story or trend should read the same.
I use several types of readings, one of them is the Karmic reading. I
use a Celtic cross reading, then add three cards for the karmic
reading of the day, then one more to add choice to an outcome. Another
Karmic reading I do, is to lay the cards out in threes in a fifteen
card spread. Another is to see the quickie reading that is just three
cards, past present and future. Then there’s the 5 to 10 minute
reading which if doing a lot of them say at a graduation or a party
help to move people along and give them a little bit of advice. I do a
five card reading in a triangle. This is quick and easy, gives a lot
of information in a short time.
