The mystery in the stones

Most of the time I’m an adventurous individual, and when I went back to Wales to do a book on psychic phenomena, I started out my research at the most prominent of the land marks where I was staying. The cairn. It had been on top of the hill for thousands of years and has dominated area and been a landmark from before the bronze age. A stone circle sits at the hill’s base and is unmistakable from the air, but can be missed from the ground.

Surrounded by stones of all shapes and sizes, the main part of the stone circle has two concentric circles around it, making a form of ditch. Inside the circle are two megaliths. One at the East and one at the West. I knew nothing about what went on in the circles much less what occurred in modern times. But often upon visiting I had noticed on previous occasions a fire had been lit and several beer cans had been thrown carelessly around. I didn’t pay too much attention to it, but decided to contact a psychic is Swansea who was in contact with the people I was staying with. The psychic practised what is called the ‘old ways’ a rare and precise form of psychic awareness that comprises Paganism with a belief in God. This form has the belief that Paganism and God, holds the truth of who and what we are as individuals. It was radical and a stretch away from the New Age awareness I had been brought up with.

I wanted to find out what was going on at the cairn and stone circle, why there were feathers stuck into the ground and why a fire pit had been used. I was told that there was a cult, that had been present for thousands of years before the Romans came. It was called the cult of the dead, they had sacrificed people by placing them alive below the stones and then covering them up on given days. More than a little disturbed that the stone circle was not as innocuous as it seemed, I further asked about the fire pit. I was told that the people who were now using the stone circle were trying to make a serious go of what used to go on there.

Unable to believe what I was being told, I started to write my story. I interviewed a lot of people, and they were all interested in what was going on at the stone circle. Some even gathered on the equinox’s through out the year. The stone circle was a microscopic version of Stonehenge and probably built at about the same time. I was told not to get too involved with the cult as they employed methods of conversion that were... a little controversial. Heeding the warning, I decided to find out what the cairn was all about.

I noticed that the cairn when I had been younger was kept up, had a couple of stone slabs at the base, it was a ancient kings burial chamber. Over the years, it had folded in on itself and the stones toppled. Visitors take a stone and put one on the cairn to appease the spirits. Further along there is a sun dial and still further a smaller cairn. After having poked around a little, I asked around the village where I was staying. Most didn’t want to talk about the cairn, or the stone circle, most told me it was haunted and had bad vibes. Some villagers who went up there, would topple the stones that were piled on top of each other. But most warned me not to go up to the stone circle or cairn during the summer months.

I was curious, and wanted to find out more, but the psychic I had contacted originally in Swansea, was adamant I keep away because of the haunting. I went up anyway and found, because I am sensitive, that indeed it was haunted. I didn’t go up again, and even when I left after a year of being there, I hadn’t gone up since that one day I ignored everyone’s advice. I still don’t know what went on up there, but later, when I got back to Canada, I found out that some strange goings on had been witnessed. I wasn’t able to interview those who witnessed what had gone on, but had filled in what I felt was the closest to the truth about what went on in my book.

In later months, before I left Wales, I had been contacted by three psychics who were part of the group the first psychic was from, and they were able to work on a regression for me. I found out that I was in two previous lifetimes connected to the psychics I was seeing. I had been around longer than I had even guessed and that I was mysteriously connected to not only the psychics but to those who were at the stone circle. Of course truth is stranger than fiction and as always it works that I have to have proof that the connection existed. Although I getting the proof was difficult, it still made for a good story.
